Happy #menumonday, friends!
A friend of mine recently told me about how she didn’t grow up with traditions that are associated with food. While there are many ways to celebrate the change of seasons, and to mark the special moments in our lives that don’t revolve around food, I can say for sure that my family has always marked special times with special foods. Eating seasonally, for me, is a sure way of reminding myself of the season I am in, and helps me transition my mindset from one season to another.
That’s one reason why I post these weekly menus. They are as much a record of the seasons for me as they are (I hope) inspiration for you. When I feel uninspired or stuck in a rut, I can look back on these posts and gain fresh ideas. “We haven’t had that in a long time” or “I forgot about that recipe” are great reminders to pull something back into my meal repertoire. Even when it comes to our meals, it’s good to look back occasionally and reflect on what worked in a particular season of life and what didn’t.
Here’s the plan for the week:
- Monday: Homemade pizza (we ended up not doing it last week)
- Tuesday: Chicken Curry
- Wednesday: Leftovers
- Thursday: Chicken Piccata
- Friday: Italian Drip Beef Sandwiches
- Saturday: Leftovers
- Sunday: Yellow Soup
